I have worked at Central Networks and EON since I was 18, it's such an interesting area of work. I find the distribution of electricity fascinating.
I'm a Dispatcher, I dispatch and communicate with the engineers/linesman/jointers out and about in the fields and then communicate my findings to the Contact Centre.
Apart from the great rates of pay, the work relationships and the amount of holidays I get, it must be the way everyone helps each other.
The willingness to learn, working as a team and being passionate about your job role.
There are always ways to develop and progress, new job opportunities are always coming around.
My secondment to Dispatch - I never thought I would get the job and the hours that I really wanted.
Sometimes the shifts can be challenging when you have family/children, but speaking to your Line Manager about flexible hours may be possible.
Do it! It's a brilliant career opportunity and it's like one big family.
