I started at WPD as a temp after moving back to the area and did not know anything about the Company at the time, but quickly discovered what a great company WPD is to work for.
I am responsible for the day to day supervision of the Secretariat function within the Pensions Team, providing specialist administrative support as required. My role includes the planning, organising and servicing of meetings of the ESPS Pension Scheme Group Trustees, including the preparation of detailed and complex papers and other related tasks.
If I have to pick just one thing it would have to be the Team that I work with.
WPDs philosophy of getting it right first time, every time is probably the best way to describe the culture.
Being a team player and showing mutual respect and understanding to your fellow colleagues are key.
There are development opportunities available and I have found that the training I have received over the years to help with my own progression has been really good.
I don’t think I can pick just one - there have been lots of small achievements which have contributed to the bigger picture.
The biggest challenge was when WPD acquired Central Networks. The level of work required to facilitate the smooth transition for the Central Networks members was colossal, but through hard work and a big team effort we managed to achieve what we set out to do.
I would say go for it – WPD is a great place to work.
