Craft Apprenticeships

Want to work outside in a practical role but also use your brain and enjoy lots of variety?

Our apprenticeships are perfect for those leaving school who want to put their energy and ambition straight to work. It’s also a route into working in an innovative industry for those looking for a qualification or a change of direction.

Jointers carry out jointing techniques up to 66kV, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on LV cables.

Fitters carry out the annual maintenance of plant and switchgear up to 66kV. They’re also responsible for the programming and monitoring of immediate work colleagues and switching up to 66kV, among other tasks.

Overhead Linespersons carry out the construction, maintenance, replacement and repair of overhead lines up to and including 66kV.

Your comprehensive training begins with twelve weeks based at our Training School, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of your role. Safety, for example, is vital in our work and so you’ll learn all about Health & Safety. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore other Crafts and get an appreciation of how you’ll work collaboratively with your colleagues across the business.

You can apply if you have five GCSEs graded A*-C/4-9, including Maths, English Language and a Science.
